Inclusivity Statement

Racism and Diversity

I am committed to actively and on-goingly doing what it takes to not be silent and/or complicit in systemic racism and unconscious bias. I am aware of the white privilege I hold as a coach and facilitator and that I still have unconscious bias and ignorance around this issue. I am also aware that the personal development sector is by and large dominated by white privilege.

I also recognise that Black indigenous people of colour (BIPOC) may not have the financial resources that white privilege gives and I would not want any BIPOC to be prevented from attending coaching if that is a factor. Please get in touch if this is the case for you so I can find a way to make my work accessible to you.

I am aware that I can always do more and that it’s a lifetime work, not just a current fashion. Things I am doing on an ongoing basis….

~ Continually educating myself and staying aware of the issue
~ Offering financial support when I can for BIPOC to attend coaching.
~ Aiming to make my work and clientele more diverse.
~ Working with Me and White Supremacy workbook by Layla Saad
~ Working with Resmaa Menakem– my Grandmothers hands
~ A member of a peer leadership group whose aim is to continue self-education
~ Speaking up on behalf of POC when it arises either in coaching or in life.
~Attending diversity workshops to continue to learn
~ Collaborating our work with POC to offer education on the subject.

LGBTQ+

I celebrate and honour diversity. I believe every human has the right to choose how they identify and express themselves as an individual regardless of the gender they were assigned at birth. I welcome LGTBQ+ people to my coaching.

As a coach I do not pretend to know or understand what it might be like for a person who does not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth or the cultural norm.

I am also not a coach specifically trained for non-binary people and what they may need in terms of support. I come with a willingness, curiosity, desire to support, listening and humility to learn and to embrace change.

I am open to helping if I can and to learn as I go. I am always doing my best to meet the different needs of people while recognising my own limitations.

Physical disability

I do my best to include and work with physical disability, both visible and invisible. My online coaching may be more accessible to those with physical disabilities. For the in-person coaching it’s more limiting at present but I am working towards providing an accessible environment in which I can work.

Non-Physical Disability and Neurodiversity

My values are, to do all I can to be inclusive. At the same time, I recognise that I may not have the right skills, experience or qualifications to support some people.

Do please contact me if you have a question and I will always be honest about what I can do to support you and what I feel I cannot do. I believe it would be irresponsible as a coach to offer you work if I do not have the experience or understanding needed to give you the right support you need.

Trauma-informed

I am constantly learning and exploring ways I can be more informed about the impact of personal trauma in coaching and doing what I can to give people an experience of choice moment to moment. To also recognise what work might be appropriate to do in the context of a group and what is not.

I will always ask you and invite you into any exercise and support you to feel in your choice so that the work you do with me is transformative and not adding any more trauma. My work is suitable for people who are currently working with  or experiencing extreme trauma.
